California Recap: Coming Soon!

Due to the rigors of my academic schedule following our spring trip I won't be able to get a blog post out for a little while. There will be an in-depth analysis of our trip posted sometime in the next calendar week - I PROMISE. In the mean time, here's a nice pic of the boys next to some real big trees in Muir Woods National Park:

On the Road: WVU and GWU

1350 Miles, 32 bus hours, 2 hotels and 2 games later the 'Cats have finished the opening weekend of the 2013 season. Leaving Durham Thursday evening we arrived the following afternoon in Westover, West Virginia ready to play that night. Despite the weather and the absence of Head Coach Ben Clark, the 'Cats left Mylan Park with a 10-7 victory over the Mountaineers of West Virginia University under the guidance of Assistant Coach Jeremy Small. (credit is also due to sophomore David Nardella for some impeccable coaching in the box)

Following the victory the team enjoyed some fine dining in town where sophomore midfielder Al "Bud" Hutchins discovered a fondness for Taco Bell's very own Chalupa. After a night of well deserved rest we made our way across three states to our nation's capital to meet the "Brolonials" of George Washington University.

The 'Cats went into the game with a head full of steam and enough confidence to fill a coach bus. Despite some incredibly sweet HeadWrapz GWU couldn't keep up with the boys from Durham. The 'Cats left DC with a 9-3 win.

All in all, it was a successful opening showcase for the boys. We will be looking forward to our the next contest on March 12th against UC Davis. Stay tuned for updates from our conquest of the West.

And of course, a special thanks is most definitely due to our wonderful managers Steph and Abby for sacrificing their weekends and putting up with us on and off the bus for the duration of the trip.

Some candids from the weekend:

..what most of the trip looked like
The team looks excited for a trip on the DC Metro

Somewhere in MD, WV or PA - regardless, definitely 'Sqautch territory
Everyone's new timeline banner on the FaceBook
Aaaaand, incase you hadn’t already seen it - freshman bassmaster Schyuler Mace had some hidden talents we didn’t know about. (Remember this boys: if it’s on the internet, we’ll find it)

*Take notes Eli Hayward, just kidding, we appreciate your vids more than we do CU’s Club Ball episodes.

Welcome Back!

Well, here we are again. The ‘Cats are back to work in Durham after a well deserved break. I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays.

Unfortunately, Christmas came a tad late for the boys but we were patient. Our new sponsor, Gait Lacrosse,  has really hooked it up with a big ‘ole goodie bag of equipment. So far we’ve received some very slick new gloves...

… shafts, heads and elbow pads/arm guards. I was also led to believe there should be another round of gear coming in anytime now. If you like what you’ve seen, you should go check out what else Gait has on deck for the 2013 Season HERE. (I AM expecting some compensation for that)

That being said, pre-season began last week and things are looking goood. We’ve been blessed by Campus Rec with a most optimal practice time slot of 10:00-12:00am in the Field House. Nothing like sliding on a rubber carpet laden with track spikes. We make the most of it.

Every bit of focus and anticipation in the coming weeks will be going towards our first game against the Mountaineers of West Virginia University on March 1st - I think it’ll be an interesting trip. We will also be playing in DC against George Washington University that same weekend.

After that, we have a very exciting trip planned for Spring Break..excuse me, Spring Training in the Golden State.

Sorry, I couldn't not post this in regards to our trip:
